i have the rack and pinion out of a parts car ,rack has about 8000 miles, than it was wrecked ,so i bought it for a parts car, upon removal found driver side inner tie rod slightly bent,how do you remove this inner tie rod? its a 85 gt rack if it matters, going in a 86 gt ,thanks ,help please !!!!!!!

the inner tie rod in threaded on to the rack . just get a big adjustable wench on the flat part right near the rack and loosen .

the ends of the cup that screw on the the rack are smashed down so they can not unscrew.
i grind the flattened parts off before i try to unscrew them.
