Ive had an issue with back fire since I got the car.
First I thought it was the headers... as they had big holes in them... those have been replaced... adn everything is fine in the ypipe and the headers... yet im still getting back fire and a cloud of sute when I start the car...
so what could it be?
its a 350tpi.

Black smoke is running rich, backfiring is often extra gas igniting in the exaust.
What does this mean?
You've got unburned fuel.
Injector stuck open, one cylinder not firing, timing way off, massive intake problems, failing ignition module, all can do it.
Whatever's going on, you've got too much gas or not enough boom.
