Ok so I'm old and like some comfort with my toys but I am going to order a new AC compressor for my 88 dohc swap using a 97 motor. I am going to do a 134 conversion so my question is will the matching AC cimpressor that was on the 3.4 DOHC motor be compatible with the Fiero AC system as long as it is properly evacuated and recharged with oil etc? I've done a conversion on my 87 GT to 134 and used a DA6 unit and not sure it is compatible with the newer motor.

Anyone?

Thanks

I'm using the DOHC compressor on mine, it works great with 134A. I actually want to turn it off sometimes becuase I get too coldalthough just putting it on bi-level and turning the fan spped down would work. If you decide to use it, you will want to get the 87-88 4 cly AC compressor lines as they will clear the oil filter on the DOHC.

If you can run the stock DOHC V5 do it. It works like a dream. You will need to remove the cycling switch though.

Well I knew there was a good reason I decided to use this 88 t-top coupe! Then the AC lines will hitch right up with no line mods then?

Erik You told me earlier when we did the wiring harnes that I needed to rob a W body for a preassure switch up from near the condensor? Don't remember as I have been solving a multitude of missing parts problems and cracked transmission cases.

Thanks

Mike

The only mod you have to do to the 88 AC line is bevel the hole on the compressor manifold becuase on the DOHC compressor, there is a step on the stud that the manifold mounts to. The stock Fiero compressor uses a bolt instead of a stud to mount the AC line compressor manifold to the compressor so there isnt the step. All you need to do is take a burr stone aon a drill or air tool and grind the hole out a bit so that the manifold seats down on the AC compressor. Yes you need that pressure sensor so your ECM knows if its ok to engage the AC clutch and you are correct it is located on the w body high pressure side up by the condensor.
