I have searched and found wonderful information on window tint procedure, but I am having a devil of a time creating a template for the rear window. I have an 88GT, although I read there is no difference between notchy and gt.

I purchased reflective tint (platinum) from homedepot and now am trying to put into my car. Does anyone one here have a template I could purchase or print from pdf file?

take the inner trim pcs out and get some measurments and cut it close to size and trim while/after installing
if you remove the inner plastic pcs, and possibly even the carpet below the window, there is ALOT more room to work back there, you can cut it big, lay it in place and squeegee it into place and trim the edges with an x-acto knife as needed

OR, clean the outside of the window and leave wet. Wet down the outside of the tint and lay it on the outside of the rear window. Position it so it overlaps all sides (it will stick), then cut it to an exact fit.
Peel it off the rear window (adhesive side is out), now it will be perfect fit when adhesive is exposed and tint is put on the inside.
The rest is per instructions.

I think if you read the instructions, that tinting is NOT for automobiles. It is reflective for a reason, and I believe it is illegal to use reflective tinting on cars. Just think of the driver in back of your car and how the headlights boucning back will blind them. Hope you don't get rear ended at a stop light r otherwise cause an accident.

I always wondered why chrome plated tanker trailers are allowed on the road. The backs of those are mirrors.

Well Fino I respectfully disagree with that particular outcome. I have a bug up the dark place because I see other cars on the road with this tint and i'll be damned if I don't like it and want the same thing. I have spoken to tint installers and you are absolutely right that it is illegal but I believe it is not for your stated reason. as mentioned in one of the other posts, those tankers that are highly reflective are like "mirrors," what I truly believe is the case, is that the cops need to be able to see into the vehicle when they pull you over for safety reasons. I think it is more BIG BROTHER than anything else. I just want my car to be cool in the sun and look sweet on the street.

I used freezer paper to create a template on mine - you wet the window , put the plastic side on and draw a line around the parimeter. Create a pattern from that. I'd check the laws on tint in your state. It would suck to go to all the trouble then have to remove it because of a 'fix-it' ticket!

The California tint laws exempt the rear window if you have outside right and left rearview mirrors.

Actually, reflective tint is made for automotive applications, and it is the best tint out there.

Because it reflects a lot of light, rather than absorbing it, it does a better job than any other type of tint in one of auto window tint's main functions - as a countermeasure against interior heating due to light absorption.

Sorry I can't help you with a template, but you're probably best off making your own anyway, instead of going through the trouble of printing one out, which might be a bigger task to get right than one might hope.

Sorry if my post isn't very entirely coherent. I may be a bit . . . ahem . . . hammered . . . lol.

I did the same as USFiero did, it worked great. Take your time with the paper template. Cut the template bigger at first you can always cut it smaller. What made it easier for me was that I also was redoing my headliner and the cover that fits over the firewall behind the seats. I had nothing in the way to and I could go right up to the edge of the window. I even cut the film a little bigger (1/16") and test fitted that and then I trimed it to fit perfectly, when the film was dry after application. I hope this helps.

Did you keep the template you made of the window? if you did I would even pay you $10.00 shipped.

You say freezer paper, do you mean "wax" paper used for freezer applications? I have never heard of freezer paper, but I have heard of wax paper. symantics i suppose.
