Ok, I have searched the threads and haven't found this one, I was foolish enough to buy a "Rebuilt" Headlight motor on ebay. The thing just sits there and does nothing. The knob spins with no resistence, where do I start to look for the problem? Never tore one a part but I guess I will now. Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!!

how many times are you turning the knob? they turn about 20 times be fore the head light starts to move.

for 84-86 look here.

but if it really does just spins you are going to need parts.
the 84-86 you will need the big white gear.
for 87-88 you just need 3 little bushing

For starters im assuming when you turn your headlights on the knob spins but the headlights dont do anything. Then it sounds like you either have a gear stripped out or your bushings are just completly gone. Rodney sells good quality parts:

The knob never spins, ever! There is no resistence on the knob at anytime.

Well if the knob never spins when you turn your headlights on thats an electrical problem. If the knob dosent have any resistance and the light dosent go up when when you spin it by hand thats a gear or bushing problem. Sounds like you might have a couple issues here.
