3 cans will do it. Plus another can because you will likely be forever retouching your armrests and center console, where the oil from your skin will constantly be causing the paint to come off. Spray dye is much better. It penetrates the vinyl a little and is there to stay. If you intend to do it with the interior still in the car, mask off everything, including the headliner. Just the fumes from the spray paint can penetrate the headliner and make it turn loose from the foam backing.

From my experience the black looks better if it is flat black. And it tends to stick better too. Now having said that I clear coated my center console and I have had no problems with the paint wearing off.
Whatever you do, don't use the Krylon Fusion on soft vinyl. From what I hear it won't dry but stay tacky.

I'm gonna use the SEM Landau Black. I just wanted to know since nobody around here carries it and I have to order from the net. I was told that the high use areas (like armrests) should be done with black shoe dye, and then buffed. Can anyone back that up?

Good choice on the brand.....get 3 cans of the black, 1 can of satin clear coat, and a can of vinyl prep.....take your time, and you'll have a pro looking job. I use these products frequently (my sideline job) and they work great. You'll have lots of black left for future touchups)

HellYes you can get vinyl dye, which is a vinyl specific dye, that works excellent and looks like it rolled out of the factory with that colour vinyl(if the proper prep and time is taken). It's not like he's going and buying spray cans of car paint or general purpose paint and letting loose on the interior. If he takes his time and preps it up right it'll look awesome.
Or did you mean everything should just be left stock? I could've misenterpreted. I apologize in advance if thats the case.
