I did a 4t60 swap into the Formula a few months ago and am just now getting around to fixing this little glitch. I have advertised in the Mall for a speedo gear from a 3:33 ratio auto trans but just wanted to see if anyone had more info on what my problem is or what could be done to fix it. I did swap the speedo gear from the 3:33 ratio 4T60 to the VSS from the ealier 440 trans but I guess I should have used the one from the Fiero instead. Thanks all, Mark

I have not got that far in my 4t60 install yet.

But I would think you should be able to go to a dealer and get the correct gear to correct it.

It's just figuring out the correct size. I know I have read several post on how to calculate what you need. Should be able to find them with a little searching.

Thanks, I'll dive into the 22P book and see if I can get a number.

You have the wrong speedo gear. How far off is it???

If it is way off you may also need the governor recalibrated to make it shift propperly.

Try trans shops for the speedo gear(s) and if needed the governor issue.

The VSS reads axle rotation and is very sensitive to changes in tire size. Ti figure how far off you are... you need to know the OE tire size of the donor vehicle and whatever you are running now.

It sounds like you have tires bigger than the donor had... In what case you probably had problems with the stock TH125c as well. See the MiataNet calculator and other info in the Links, Gear Ratio and Trans articles in my cave.

I have not changed the tire sizes from stock, they are the 205-60 and 215-60-15. The speedo gear is the wrong one I am sure. I gear is from a 90 Reagle, I think that when I put the correct gear for a Fiero in that will fix the problem. If not then it will go to the trans shop.....
