I have noticed a couple times(of course always when I'm cutting it close to being late to work) my driver side door won't want to open. I look at the front and it seems to be jammed up on the fender, almost like it does when you get in an accident. No accident though. All but one time I could open the door enough that it would finally slip past the fender and the fender would then just do the "pop" out thing. It would start to bend in and then once the door got far enough past the pivot point it would finally release it. I would drive to work, then not have the issue arise.

One time it was bending so much and not letting go of the door that I finally just let the door stay closed then opened the passanger side and crawled over the center console and drove to work. By the time I got to work I could open the driver's side door. Almost like the heat had expanded the fender enough that it was wanting to hold the door shut, but the air passing over it cooled it enough to allow it to shrink back to the way it is supposed to be.

I'm wandering if I'm the only one that has ever had this issue and if there is a remedy to it?

thanks
jon

Early Saturns and Caddy DeVilles had the same problem. After lots of broken fenders Saturn increased gaps all around and Caddy went back to metal fenders. I ve noticed it on Fieros a few times although usually it was the way deck lid or hood 'bowed' where it matches to fenders.

My driver's door would *just* catch on the fender and it would only do it on real hot days. It was chipping the paint.. I loosened all the fender bolts and managed to move it forward about 1/16th inch. That was enough to stop the problem without making a big difference in the gap between the fender and the nose.

mine does the same thing if it's parked so the sun is on the drivers side. driving it makes the problem go away. i'm going to try adjusting the fendr skin.

Ling was doing that too.
this was my easy way out.

i'm sure other will disapprove of this method, but it works and it's cheap.
