Got yet another question. I got lots of fiero transmissions laying around and wanted to know the difference between them.

I have a bunch of automatics out of various years and wanted to know the difference between them, how do you identify which kind it is and how many gears they have.

I also have a 4spd 84 fiero and what to know what 4spd I have in it.

The automatics are all TH125 units; other than very minor production differences they're the same in all years of Fiero. Your '84 has a Muncie 4-speed - it could be one of two different ones. Best way to tell is to look at the service label on the left inner fender under the hood to find the option code for the tranny.

" They all can be ID'ed by either a plate on the side of the case, a stamping number on the governor case or an ink stamp on the bell housing". The MD9 (Auto) is PF, the MY8 (econo 3.32) is either NA or DJ and the M19 (4:10) is UM or DW. The MY7 is UA and the M17 (3.36) is 5UA. The above info is from the 22P.

That is wwhat I needed was part numbers off the tranny itself, as the autos I have arn't in cars anymore and the 84 I have is missing the option sticker.

Mike

you don't need the autos to be in cars to tell what they are. The auto never changed.

I was woindering things like that, I have 2 85 V6 autos, 1 87 4cyl auto and a 88 4cyl auto. Just wanted to know if there was a difference between them.
