well, after all my other stuff, see other thread about not running, i finally got it to run decently... pullled the cold start injector wire off. let it sit for a few hours, went back to try and start it, new fuel pressure gauge in hand to check the pressue... wouldnt start... only 22-30 on the guage at any time. would run a tiny bit with little throttle blips, then die instantly when u stop. checked my adjustable regulator out, all is good. no tears, rips, holes or anything in the gasket. so now im thinking fuel pump

sometimes fuel pump runs for the 2 seconds on start up, sometimes not. sometimes noisy, sometimes quiet. as far as a i know, its been in there a while.

anyone else agree with this or have any checks or tests for it?

Run a jumper wire from the orange wire of the cigarette lighter to the fuel pump terminal in the ALDL connector behind the cigarette lighter plug:

This applies power straight to the fuel pump as soon as you turn the key to RUN. With the engine off the fuel pump should generate at least 40PSI. If not, then use vice grips with some rags to squeeze closed the fuel return line, then activate the pump again. It should dead head over 50PSI. If it has high pressure with the return line clamped and low pressure without, then the regulator is bad. If low pressure either way then the pump is bad or the pulsator is leaking in the tank.

if you're getting <30psi, it's most likely the fuel pump. Even if you apply voltage to the fuel pump circuit to test it, you might hear it run....doesn't mean it's putting out the pressure you need. Some injectors won't even fire unless the fuel pressure is up where it should be

New fuel pump time
