I have the door off of my daily driver, and only car without borrowing my parents', to replace the hinge. And I work tonight =)

I've had so many snags, but the only problem left should be removing the door lock cylinder retaining clip. This little *%&$#@ right here: http://www.bluskai.net/jp/lockCylinderRetainer.jpg

There's a little tab at the top (green arrow) that fits into a recess so I can't rotate the clip to remove it. I had to fiddle with the brightness/contrast in photoshop to get the clip to show, so now you can't see the hole in the clip that the "thinger in the middle" has to fit through when the clip comes off. (Does that make any sense?) How the hell do I get it off? In the meantiem, i'll be wrestling with it again.

Thanks!

that's not what is holding the lock in place.

the tab in white is part of a big "U" shaped clip that holds the lock cylinder in place.
and it's a little easier to get this other tab out of the hole by lifting up on the top side of this clip and then slide it straight down about 1/8 of an inch and then the rod will pull out

Its a little tough to get the retainer clip back on the lock cyinder. what i did is wedge pieces of wood (those tapered shims about 1.5" width) between the horizontal and vertical bars in the door to guide the clip to go into the slot on the lock cylinder.and then push the clip with a long screw driver into the slot. did both of my doors about 2 weeks ago in about 1 hour.
