I was messing around the other day with that wondeful invention known as the calculator, and I figured out some things...

for every 112 or so pounds you drop on a fiero you should "gain" about 6.66666 hp

So... dropping 335 lbs off of a Fiero gives you the same power to weight ratio at adding 20 hp and keeping the weight stock...

basically a 2800 lb fiero with 160hp = 2500 lb fiero with 140 hp, and a 2500 lb fiero with 160 hp = 2800 lb fiero with 180 hp

so simply adding around 20 hp which can easily be done and shedding a ton of weight should be "like" having a 180 hp fiero...

so now where can we take off 335 lbs...??? comment, critisisms welcome...

just looking at simple cheap ways to make a 2.8 faster, I was wondering if 335 lbs is possible... light weight racing seats, strip most interior stuff, remove ac system, spare tire and jack, light weight battery, lexan back window... what else?

carpets, padding under them, spare tire, doors are really really heavy.. but to lighten them makes you dead in a sideways crash. alum. V8! 10lbs lighter then the V6 i think.

car wouldn't looks so great after all that!

It all depends on what you want to use the car for. Dumping the AC, the carpets, radio, console etc, will save quite a few pounds. Going with lighter wheels will also help. The stock GT wheels must be twice as heavy as my Centerline Storm wheels.
If that's too drastic, you could take the easy route, just eat less, wear less, leave your shoes home, and don't put more than half a tank of gas in the car.

Search for one of my threads. About 5 months ago I weighed just about every part in there. I forgot to do some, but bottom line, theres nothing really worth it other than the seats and doors, but again, not a whole lot you can do about them other than pull the pass seat

Depends on how anal you want to get.
When Honda did the NSX Type R (European model), they replaced the leather shift boot with a light mesh to save 10 grams.

10 grams!!!

As one reviewer on Top Gear commented, "I could have done that wearing a thinner pair of socks."

Rotating weight is is the best deal pound for pound. Not only are you saving weight you have to tote down the strip but the flywheel effect is tremendous. Wheels, tires, flywheel (most effective), brake rotors (less efective). When it comes time to replace these items, think light but don't forget safety.

Swapping your headlights out for flush mount, while ugly as sin, will lose you a few pounds. Non-functional fiero wing, a few more. ditch the ground effects and swap your fascias (front and rear) for the slightly lighter coupe style. I'm not positive they are lighter, but I would assume so as they are physically smaller.. Spare tire, jack, AC a bit more. Get some light weight wheels. Stereo speakers and all the wiring weighs quite a bit all together. Swap ypur power window doors for base coupe crank window doors. Light weight seats. CF headliner is more bling than anything, but it is lighter. The trunk tub is pretty heavy if you don't mind losing it.

anyone know if the sunroof is heavier than a solid roof?

It's not how much this one piece weighs that you should look at. When you add it up, every bit counts.

I'm cheating on this one and starting with an 87 no-option base coupe for my next car.
