I have a complete brand new short block 2.5 . I got it from someone who didn't know what to do with it. It has 2.5L stamp and GM stamp it also has a part # of 10038980. sevral other numbers on it . Its a complete short block. When he got it it was in the crate . My luck he thew the crate away a long time ago so no help there. But it appears to be a complete short block from GM. Any help with ID would be appreciated.

Aren't the super duty blocks labeled as so? They say super duty right on the block.

I'll see if I can get some pictures . I don't know if they are stamped or not this one is not but will look again. I was hoping could ID it with the stamped numbers but have not been able to cross reference them yet.

Here are some pics of a Super Duty. Not mine and I can't remember whose they where. If you look close in this one you can see it says "Super Duty" right above the distributor port.

A comparison of the normal Duke and the Super Duty.

That's my block.

It's pretty hard to mis-identify a Super Duty block. Every Super Duty block made was cast in this manner:

Also, GM never shipped assembled (long or short block) Super Duties, as far as I know.

Hope that helps,
Nate

You know that little voice that says it can't be done? I duct-taped mine's mouth shut and pushed it down a flight of stairs.
