I have a 93 FWD getrag and need to know if the syncros, bearings and spiders will fit in the fiero Getrag. Also how hard are these to go through. I have rebuilt engines, and regular RWD sticks and third members before. Do you need the dreaded J134 tool and what are the any pit falls to watch out for. One of the Fiero trannys has somthing wrong with the 3rd member, locked up, maybe a bearing. One doesn't go into first properly, sometimes will pop out of gear when clutch is released, maybe a worn fork. Third one want to rebuild and sell, don't know the condition. Pulled from a wrecked Fiero. Any advice will be helpful.

Look under 'Manuals' - there are a couple publications there that may help you greatly.

Not sure about the specific answers to your questions - just trying to help.

You do need a press, snap ring pliars and feeler guages and such. The syncros are the same, but the spiders are VERY different. A 93 getrags spiders are MUCH larger and so you have to use the differential as an assembly, and inevidably that also means you must shim the case properly. There are ways around that tool. I will post a write up of how I shim without the tool when I get a chance.
