Somebody here mentioned that the oil filter adapter from a 3800 Camaro could be used as a replacement for the stock oil filter adapter. Can anybody here confirm this? Also, as an alternative, is there an oil relocation kit that will solve the clearance issues?

Thanks

I'm using the stock buick mount with no problems. www.intense-racing.com sells an adapter plate, but then you need fittings and all the lines.. Also, it has an adjustable preload so you can set the ?pressure/volume? of the oil...

Yes the 3800 Camaro one will clear. The filter will point straight out towards the front of the engine. It is also the cheapest, if you need to buy a new one from a dealer (at least here in Canada it is).

My stock 03 Bonnivile sticks streight out (not sure if that would work on your motor.but probubly would if its a series II SC 3800).

Fiero31337:

Go to GM Parts Direct and enter this here for a 98 3.8L V6 Camaro:

12569217

I guess that they raised their price from when I bought mine. It's listing @ 19.1o but this is w/o thier shipping. If the Dealer price should be listed ~ 31.9o, I'd almost just go order one @ the dealer.

When I got mine, list was at 4o.8o, while GMP was 17.36.

Here is a picture of what it looks like when installed:
( sorry that they are not larger, but you can get the "jist" of it )

The First one has the filter removed, and the 2nd is looking straight down from the top of the decklid on an 88.
