93 cougar fogged headlights (getting them clear again) by warden

my brother just got a 1993 cougar and he failed inspecition for his headlights being fogged.. i was wondering if i were to take them apart is there anyway to remove that yellow grime. and what would i use to mount the lensce to the housing?? super adhesive weather stripping could do that right?

The sollution is to wet sand them with 2000 grit sand paper. Then wax and buff them out. They will look nearly new. The oxidation is on the outside not the inside.

Agreed. I have done a few headlights myself, and they look 100 times better. If they're oxidized pretty badly, you may want to start with 1000 grit. Makes the job go a little quicker. The polish I use is made by Mother's and was about $7 I think.

Some headlights do go bad from the inside.

If thats the case I have heard of people cutting them in half to get to the inside, then glueing them back together.

Chevy Venture vans fail at the glue joint and actually fall apart. They start leaking moisture long before that. I popped mine apart, cleaned and polished the inside, then glued them back together and polished the outside. They look new.
