alrighty im going to be putting my steering rack back on and i want to make sure that the steering is going to be the same and not out of wack. How do i go about doing this? When i took the rack off the steering wheel was turned to one side so the rack isn't center. Can i just turn the steering rack shaft until both sides are even then make the steering wheel straight and put it in? Also when i was rebuilding my suspension i got kind of excited and forgot to mark the threads on the tie rods, but i did count the threads on one side, i put the new ones on and tightened them up, will it still be ok to drive to the alignment shop with it like that?

Thanks

Spin the front tires and use a white out pen draw a line in the center of the threads. tape measure front and back , get as close as possiable. bounce the front end after every adjustment. That should get you to the Alignment shop. And DO get a profesional alignment.

Depending on which rack you have you will have a different number of total turns, lock to lock. So what you do is turn the input shaft all the way to one side. Then turn it all the way to the other side and make sure to COUNT how many turns it took. You take that number, divide it in half. So if you turned your input shaft 3.5 times, lock to lock, you would then need to turn it back 1.75 turns to center it. Make sure your steering wheel is centered and throw it up in there, making sure you line up the flat spot on the input shaft to the bolt on the steering column.
