its a smaller version displacement wise of the 409, 4.125" x 3.25" bore and stroke as compared to the 409's 4.312" x 3.50"bore and stroke. Both the 348 and 409 are the same size externally. Its basically the first bigblock that Chevy came out with in the very late fifties and early sixties. It was known as the "W" motor due to its head/valvecover configuration. It could be had with 305, 315, 340 and 350 HP It would probably not be the best choice for a swap as its a large motor, you might just as well put a 396, 409, 427 or 454 if your going to go through the trouble. Youll have to get acustom adapter plate for the Fiero trans to bolt up to the 348 as well as fabbing up mounts and such
