I have a question about remotely mounting an oil filter on a sbc. I have seen two different kinds of plumbing, one uses a plate that takes the place of the filter and has two lines coming from it which go into the remote filter boss. the other type has on line coming from the filter block off plate and the other line goes into the side of the block. Are there advantages to one vs the other? I currently have the first type installed on my sbc and i was wondering if this is the way to go. thanks in advance,
Tony

I think it's an either/or situation. Someone may correct me on that.

Mine has the line coming out of the block. On mine, if I were to try to move that fitting in the block to the second hole in the bypass plate, which I plugged, it would get in the way of my starter.

Thanks 87GT...can you tell me how yours is routed? Which hole in the block off plate did you plug and which hole does the hose from the block connect to on the filter boss? Thanks.

I'll do ya one better than that. Pics.

That "out" on the bypass plate is the outer-most fitting location and should be closest to the oil pan.

That line from the bypass plate should go to the "in" fitting on the filter adapter. The "out" on the filter adapter goes to the fitting on the side of the block.

In the pic above, the oilfilter adapter "in" is below and the "out" is above.

Hope that helped.
