well today i started to smell gas and the car was off . so i get under and find that the fuel tank is a littled rust BUT JUST BY THE STRAPS . i know the fierostore sell stainless steel so this doesn't happen again . but what schould i do to fix the tank for good ? i have seen some kits that your pour in the tank and the turn it all around let it dry and it is SAY "NO MORE LEAKS " . or should i look for a used tank in good shape ? can i use this to switch to the bigger 86 tank ? i used one of those 2 part expoy made for the gas tank till i get this all straightened out . the hole is only about as big as the small tip on a pen (very small just saw the gas after i sand the rust a little ) . it is holding up for now
this is all for a 85 se v-6 4 speed stick

I would use something like J-B Weld ( quick setting ) for a temporary fix, then Change out the tank.

He's right. Good used tanks are still plentiful. Replace it as soon as you can. The JB Weld may hold up for a while but start looking now.

Plumbers epoxy is the stuff to use. It's a two part, with modeling clay consistancy, which solves the normally runny epoxy/JB Weld problem.
I don't think the larger tank will fit with out some metal surgery IIRC.
