I would check the bulbs that are in the tail light sockets.
Make sure they are the right type. Single filament, double filament etc.

That would cause voltage to feedback into the park light circuit from the brake circuit.

Have you replaced the tail light bulbs lately?

Usually feedback like this happens when you have a bad ground in one of the sockets. Check the sockets with the bulb out and make sure that the ground terminal which runs up the inside of it hasn't broken off.

Check the bulbs that you replaced. You likely used 1156 bulbs instead of 2057 bulbs. They can be forced in, and will make it backfeed to the part lights.

If that is not the case, replace all the rest of the bulbs one at a time till you find it. If that is not it, you likely have a broken/coroded ground wire to one of the sockets.

The brake/turn/tail lights all use 2057 bulbs. The side marker uses 194 bulbs (they are not the cause of your trouble, but if you have the housing out and they are not working it is a good time to change them). The Back-up uses 1156, they are not your trouble either.

Our I/P was illuminating when the brake pedal was depressed. My son has been wiring up some electronic goodies -- we were thinking it was something he worked on.

Meanwhile, I've been restoring the taillights, including (you guessed it) replacing a bad bulb with the wrong bulb. We swapped in the correct bulb and we're back in business.

It was dumb luck that I saw this thread. Thanks a million!
