Hey all,

A tranny shop here in town is rebuilding the getrag out of my '87 GT. I brought the tranny in all by itself. They are now asking me whether the option sticker on the car has code MT2 or MG2. Can anyone tell me what these refer to? I'm not sure I'm going to have this sticker anymore, my car is a bit of a frankenstein.

Thanks!

If it's a real Getrag, the car will have the MG2 option code (Muncie-Getrag).

Ah, thanks. I had just done a search myself and found it also. MT2 = Isuzu, MG2 = Getrag. Thanks.

I told these guys what transmission this is, but I guess they're confused.

"Getrag" is probably meaningless to them. Most shop manuals refer to it as a Muncie. (not even Muncie/Getrag).
Checking the option code is a fool proof way to make sure you get it right. Kudos for them to check.
