Might sound un-orthadox.....but, just for giggles....(and because I am a dummy when it comes to this stuff) I went out, started the car...let it warm up...and then took my 'night vision' scope and had a look-see. A M A Z I N G ....It looked like a night lightening storm under there. I could...after acclimation to the dark..could make out one small bit of arch...but with the scope....it was light a lighted up area...even detecting leaskage from the coil, and each and every place the wires touched or 'leaked'. Tomorrow, I will install the new premium wires I bought.
Anyone got any ideas of silicone...or other that can be put on the boots...to seal, without gumming up the system?

Thanks again all.
Jim

They make a grease that comes with most spark plug wire sets, use that and that should be all you need with your new wires. You are not such a dummy because you solved the problem yourself in an unorthodox way that made it simple to find the problem. Recheck after you put on the plug wires and see what it looks like.

I will do so. The car...I love it, but it sure gets 'finnicky' to run. I guess this is a good example for putting the best...quality one can afford, to offset potential hair pulliing problems. Oh well, I used to cuss Opel Gt's!

I do not know if this will help anyone...but for the longest time..I have had a problem with the dome lights coming on 'half-lit'...amber in color. Almost a year I have had this problem. Also, the heater blower motor has intermittantly quit running, times a fuse is to blame, and usually always, I can press on the A/C...and then back to the defrost..and it works. Now all is working well. Polterquists??

Don't understand the frustrations of the 3.4 TDC...but I certainly understand the frustrations of the Opel Gt.
