Have an 87 Duke w/Auto. At idle the oil pressure gauge jumps (stutters) between 40-60. Also the engine has a feel while doing this but the tach is rock steady. While driving gauge is steady, in fact at 70mph is about 40. Just had the heads done as well as some other items. Any ideas about why the fluctuation of oil pressure at idle?

Meant to add also when the turn signal is on the oil pressure gauge needle moves with the flashes of the turn signal.

Either a ground problem or a voltage supply problem. Start checking engine grounds and battery cables. How new is the battery?

Steve,

Have you tried hooking up another engine ground strap? I've seen my volt meter wiggle a bit with brake lights or other electrical useage, but not the oil pressure. An inadequate ground can cause alot of wierd stuff to go on.

Bob

[edited]... see you just got the same response. Had your note up and got on the phone. When I finally replied, it looks like Jazzman had the same thought.
