Anyone used this kit from ARI, looks like a good kit and looks better over the fierostore kit, comes with absoulotly everything to convert to a 3.1 stroker and it cost $1200, they claim a 25 hp increase over stock, anyone used it or knows of someone that has, any reviews?

you could find all those parts locally and save a lot on duty and shipping... you just need to know the different parts required for the 3.1 changeover.

thanks for the reply carson, are you talking about keeping the 2.8 block and buying the indivigual parts to make it to a 3.1 stroker? or are you talking changing the block, i don't want to change the block just rebuild and upgrade.

The only different parts to change the 2.8 to 3.1 are the pistons (wrist pin is moved) and the crank itself, rods are the same.

I've had trouble with their 3.4 stroker engine the main bearings in it went bad, they replaced it free but I am having some problems with the second engine, I would STAY AWAY, I don't want to bash them but replacing an engine twice is probably something you don't want to do, possibly 3 times... if you want more details on what happened p.m. me, I'll be glad to tell you what happened....

I have bought three engines from them and have not had a problem...........until the last one. It was overheating when you turned the engine off, I thought it was an air pocket in the cooling system, but I burped the thing ten times and then found It had a cracked head... from an exhaust valve clear across the seat area and down into the intake valve

Could have been the fact they ported it and took too much out..........or the 75hp shot of nitrous I was using ....Paul

I havent got much from them, but what I did get was good. and, as someone mentioned, all you need is a 3.1 crank & 3.1 iron head pistons - ask for 94 3.1 Camaro crank & pistons. you also need to get the stuff all balanced, and if you are doing this with a 85 thru 87 Fiero 2.8, you also need a 88 Fiero 2.8 Flywheel (neutrally balanced), or get your existing one rebalanced (what I did).

I purchased their kit a couple years ago. I was impressed with the quality and service I received from them. But as far as performance, its not exactly a great improvement, there is more torque but thats about it. For the cost I would look at alternative ( i.e. larger engines) to swap in. But as far as ARI, their service is outstanding.
