First time posting, long time reader. You guys seem to know what your'e talking about. Please help, nobody seems to know. I have 6,700 miles on my 3.1 build. Built about 4 years ago. (Shes retired.) No expense spared.
It's in a 1985 GT w/autotrans that I have owned since 1988. This engine has run flawless untill now, went to check the oil. It was a half quart low, added half quart. Thought,___ hows the antifreeze? Found the half quart of oil in the overflow tank. Hows it getting there? I have seen oil in the crankcase but never the other way around. There is no sign of water in the oil. Today I tore it down to the intake, no sign of anything wrong. What do I do now?

Much Thanks to all that reply.

not a blown head, because the oil is under less pressure than the antifreeze meaning youd have antifreeze in your oil.

Your radiator has gone bad where the oil cooling lines run through the radiator. happend to my dads camaro.

I just went thru the same thing in my 87 Duke with auto. Mechanic checked & found an internal crack in the head causing it, he is replacing the head. He says before the crack was noticed he saw an oil sludge near one of the coolant holes & removed the head & sent it out & was cracked. Also one of the head bolts was broken.

To all those that read this and are interested. Got the engine tore down to the shortblock. Cylinder wall cracked, about 1 1/4 inch long parallel to head surface, about 3/4 inch from the top of the cylinder. This was in the middle outboard cylinder. Hope no one else has to go through this.

Regards
