85' V6 5spd, I received a torn apart Fiero that is "mostly" assembled....I can't get the starter, including the solonoid, to do anything when I turn the ignition key. I jumped the S terminal to the battery terminal on the solonoid and that spun it just fine. My question is how many wires should run to the starter? I have two wires going to the S terminal, a medium guage one and a small one with a fusible link, and a large wire going to the battery terminal from the battery. Should there be any more connected to the battery terminal? Or any more in general?

That sounds about right for my 4 cyl. I don't think the V6 would be much different as far as the starter is concerned. Have you checked to make sure the fusible link is good?

The fusible link powers the cold start injector. The small purple wire is from the ignition switch to energise the solenoid. Both of these are on the solenoid "S" terminal
The large wire goes to the starter battery terminal and comes direct from the battery positive post.
So it sounds like it is wired correctly. Check for 12 volts at the "S" terminal when some-else trys to start it, maybe a bad clutch switch or an igntion switch or even a blown fuse.
You did put the clutch in when you tried to start it right?

Yup, and I checked for power at the clutch switch and no juice. I'll have to check at the ignition point to see if it's getting any juice there. I wonder where exactly the ignition switch gets it's power from? Hmmm.....

Well, I was right about no power getting to the key switch. After I traced the hot wire to the back of the car, I connected to the battery and everything started working the way that it was supposed to. Strange that my fuses had juice, but my main hot wire going to the front of the car wasn't connected. Hmmmmm....
