does anyone have a guide to remove the oil pan from an 88 2.8 v6 without removing the engine

Disconnect the batterys negative terminal.
Remove the nuts on the front engine mount top and bottom.
Using a wood block under the oil pan, jack up the front of the engine and remove the rubber mount. Support the front of the engine using the harmonic balance with a wood block at the same level or higher if possible.
Remove the starter and transmission case cover which protects the flywheel/flexplate.
Remove the nuts and bolts which hold the engine oil pan to the block and remove pan.
Reassemble in reverse order.

When removing the pan, now is the excellant time to install the high volume oil pump and windage tray.
Oil Pump - High Volume M95HV $57.86 Melling High Volume Oil Pump
Oil Pump Screen 95S3 $7.46
Windage tray - Fiero Store.

yes, as said above
I also take the passenger rear wheel off, to get at the motor mounts thru there & sticking the 2x4 in (2x4, sideways gives exactly enough room)
and I also undo some exhaust, for a little more room for dropping & reinstalling the pan
yes, fresh oil pump is always a good idea.

If you replace your oil pump, make absolutely sure that the oil pick-up tube is fastened securely to the pump.
