My 85 GT has an oil pan that is leaking.? After cleaning all the gunk off it I find out one of the previous owners used some epoxy type stuff to seal off a 4"x5" section of the oil pan and now it has cracked and is leaking. So can I replace the pan in the car? Is it a tough job? any pointers?

Thanks

Yes, you can do it with the engine still in the car. You have to remove the starter and the lower motor mount on the right side of the pan. I did it the other day and it took me about an hour

tHE JOB IS FAIRLY EASY. BEFORE THE V8 MY 2.8L PAN HAD A HOLE IN IT AND I TOOK IT OFF TO REPAIR IT.
REMOVE REAR DOG BONE MOUNT
PUT CAR ON JACK STANDS.
REMOVED STARTER.
REMOVE CLUTCH INSPECTION/FLYWHEEL DUST SHIELD COVER
BLOCK OF WOOD ON JACK AND PLACE JACK UNDER OIL PAN (IT WILL BE OK AS LONG AS YOU USE PIECE OF WOOD)
LOOSEN PASSENGER ENGINE MOUNT ON FRONT OF MOTOR AND JACK UP ENGINE. PLACE A 2X4 BETWEEN FRAME AND THE CANK PULLEY THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO GET TO ALL THE BOLTS. UN BOLT AND REPLACE

PLEASE FILL IN IF I LEFT ANYTHING OUT IT HAS BEEN 2-3 YEARS AND ALOT OF REPAIRS AGO....HOPE IT HELPS!

yes you can
as mentioned above, not to bad a job.
only thing I can add to the list above is:
drain the oil - you'll enough on ya as it is - dont need the whole 4-5 quarts in yer face
take off passenger rear wheel - easier to get at the motor mount & place the 2x4
for a little more room - undo some of the exhaust, so you can hang it lower - gives a little more room, but not necesarry
