Guy's,
I have an 88 Formula which did not have a performance sound system when build new.
I purchased a system used, but I am not sure if I have all of the components or how to install.

First question is, how many major piece should there be to the system and what are they?

Second, is there anyone or anywhere I can find some directions on how to install as a add on??

Details are fine if someone has done this.

Thanks in advance

You should have the slider which is mounted on the overhead light, an amplifier that will be located on the passenger side of the center tunnel (underneath the carpeting and behind the plastic support) and the subwoofer assembly which is located to the far right of the dash, supported by two metal tabs, one that goes to the dashboard mounting bolt on the far right, and one that goes to the heater core mount. Make sure to invest in a new speaker, I highly endorse Rodney Dickman, as the speaker is high quality and includes a replacement gasket.

Ok,
Could the amp be behind the seat in an 88 Fiero? It is only one box, correct?
Could it me made by General Electric or would it read Delco?
Does it have a heavy black wire running to it?

The amp and wiring harness is designed to be mounted behind the carpet on the passenger side of the tunnel, just under the radio pod. Here's what it looks like:

I have a little more in-depth of a webpage on the install, if you are looking to install it with a non stock deck not using an adapter. It also has a little more information on diagnostics, and it has a picture of all the parts of the puzzel you'll need. The webpage is: http://www.geocities.com/j_depies/fierosubwooferinstallation.htm Its kinda old, and i was kinda young when i wrote it, so it might be a little bit odd, but, it does help.

Thanks!

this might be helpfull if you are hooking up to a newer pontiac radio. this hook is needed because the switched output of the newer radio isnt enough to drive the facgtory sub like the orig fiero radio was

Right now, the 90's Delco Monsoon CD / radio is working great. No error codes or security locks were on when I purchased. I have already upgrade the 4 speakers and just recently got my hands on the performance sound system.

Now I need a starting point. Sounds like you are pointing me to that websit to understand what I need to consider.

Is it really worth putting this system in? Can you tell the differance??

I installed the performance sound in my GT and it sounds great. Also have the Pontiac Monsoon CD-Radio. Memphis three way in dash and panasonic two way in the rear quarters. I think it's worth it. really improves bottom end without rattling other folks cars at red lights.
It,s a bit time consuming but not really difficult. Took somewhere between two and three hours but I was not rushing it at all. Plugs are there for everything.

I had instructions that came with the Adapter. Let me locate them and I,ll get back to you this morning.
It only involved splicing one wire on the after market adapter. I think I recall but I need to check the instructions to see which one, to make sure I,m not giving the wrong info.

I pulled the cover and radio enough for a shot of the harness end of the addapter. The red and blue wire you see are the only two that you deal with. Note their connection location on the harness end since nothing is written in stone about what color the wire will be on your addapter. The Blue wire is cut near the radio side and the radio side end insulated with tape. Strip the adapter side end. This end is spliced to the red wire. This can be done by stripping a portion of the insulation on the red wire rather than cutting it.Wrap with tape and your done.

this is the opposite end.

This is the splice.

Excellent, Thanks for going through all that troble for me.

One last thing. The wiring that connect to the amp and subwoofer.

Where would it connect to the the wiring harness already in my car which did not come with this option?
Is there a connector under the dash of all Fiero that open wait for this option ( amp and or subwoofer ) to be plugged in or do I have to fine the right wires and splice into some wiring under the dash?

I hope you tell me theres a connector.

Thanks again

If you have the two required factor harnesses that go with the factory sub, you won't have to splice any thing else. It,s all plug in. The harness to the overhead control replaces the original one for the light as it also contains the light supply. The larger harness to the amp and radio plugs between the none radio harness and radio. The above links should explain this better, But here is no more spliceing.
