Hey guys, I was wondering where I would be able to find an engine wiring harness for my 85GT (4spd), it has been out of commission for a little while and I think i want to replace the engine wiring as im pretty sure there are some electrical problems, I dont think you can get the harness' new, unless somebody made it themselves, that would be cool. But if anybody has one in decent condition I might be interested. Anybody have any ideas? As long as it is intact, i can probably even fix it up a bit.
Well Im not driving the car, as im poor going to school, but it would give me piece of mind to replace the wires.

Thanks for any replies, +'s for you

I'd head out to a junkyard and pull one for yourself. Or look up a junkyard online to find one. Here are a few finds from http://car-part.com/ (I assume they would ship to Canada for a fee).

PS. You can use the harness for an AT vehicle with a few modifications.

I have the wiring harness (engine only) from my 2.8. The motor was from an 85GT according to the previous owner.

Things I removed from it for my swap:
1) the plug for the fan switch (actually, I think this wire goes to the firewall by the battery so it wasn't part of the engine harness)
2) the plug for the temp. guage sender (same as above, this went to the firewall by battery)
3) the two plugs that go into the 5spd tranny, now these were definitely part of the harness.

Everything else is there as far as plugs for the sensors. I taped and labeled each plug before unplugging it so I would know which sensor it goes to. It's a big mess since I unwrapped it while trying to trace some of the wires. Looks like a pile of spaghetti.

If you can use it you can have it, just pay shipping and it's yours.

Dave

Thanks Dave, sounds like it would be perfect, I already have the fan on a switch anyways, lol. I'll send you a PM.
Thanks for the link Steve, very good searches.

ditch, there were a few things in your post that didn't sound right. First off, a 5 spd tranny was not available for an 85 Fiero with a V-6. The 5 speed was only for the 4 cylinder. Also, what plugs go into the manual transmission? The only plug I can think of that would go into the transmission would be for the backup lights and that wasn't on an 85. And I can't think of a second plug at all.

The car was pieced together. The car is an 87 coupe and originally had a 4cyl and an auto tranny. A 2.8V6 from an 85 was installed along with a 5spd Isuzu from a Grand Am...all by previous owner. I know the first plug into the tranny is for the speedometer, but I don't know what the second one is for. It is definitely there though. It is further from the engine than the speed sender.

hope that clarifies
Dave
