Ok, this is probably one of the easier things to fix, since I have already fixed so much on this car.
It was freezing tonight, and after about 10miles of driving the check engine light came on, I knew there was a rest area just ahead so I drove a bit further to get the car there, about 1mile or less. Just before I got there I heard what sounded like something blew up. Turns out it's that big hose that goes from the top of the engine to the back of the engine, it's destroyed. Now it was late, freezing and dark so I didn't spend any time looking at it. I will go back in the morning. Hopefully this hose is easy to replace? Can someone tell me maybe the exact name for it, part number, or have any pics about replacing it?
Sounds like your radiator may have frozen up, causing pressure backup to blow the hose. Did you check that your antifreeze was strong enough for your local temps? Also check radiator for leaks after you replace the hose, you may be lucky and not have any cracks in the radiator.
Well the weather for that town was 13 and feeling like -2
The antifreeze is one of those cheaper already mixed types, because the last time antifreeze was put in it wasn't that cold. The guages in the car were all fine. Is it possible because of the temperature the hose cracked or something and then burst?
also early this morning when it was just as cold, I drove about 60miles with no problems.
If it's the hose I'm thinking of, it goes from the thermostat housing to the crossover tube. The hardest part of changing it will be accessing the bottom clamp, where it connects to the crossover tube. It's very close to the corner of the front valve cover. Pull your codes. This very likely didn't have anything to do with the "check engine" light, unless the engine overheated and one of the sensor readings was off, because of that.

That happened to me at high speed on the autobahn last year. Big cloud of green, got many looks :-) Hose is no problem to replace, we did it right there on the side of the road - once we found a replacement, that is.

yeah, thats the hose I'm thinking too. yes, its fairly easy to replace - but can be hard to find - as are most Fiero hoses. I think at Pep Boys, they call it the upper radiator hose - even tho is doesnt come anywehere near the radiator.
Managed to get it from NAPA, and installed it with no problem, have the antifreeze filled up, and everything seems fine, temp guage did go up at first because I didn't put in enough antifreeze which atleast lets me know that guage is still working, and now with it full its fine.
