I bought drilled and slotted rotors for my 87 GT - front and rear.

They will get here shortly and I want to put install them ASAP but have never replaced rotors. Do I need any other parts to install them e.g. gaskets, seals, bearings...?

Thanks!

When I did mine, I changed out the front bearings... You will also want to make sure you have cotter pins handy to replace the ones you take out to remove the rotors. Other than that, not much else that I can think of.

The bearings are quite new - can I change over the old ones without changing the seal?

the new front rotor probably does not have a bearing race (or the bearing surface, whatever you call it there), and it has to be hammered/pressed out to swap from the old rotor to the new rotor, you may want to get new bearings anyways. and, they are pretty inexpensive (at least here in the states).

Yes, install new inner and outer bearings and new seals. Only about $28 for both wheels.

OK - replace inner/outer wheel bearing and seal in the front when changing front rotor. Anything else?

What about the rear rotor? Bolts, seals, gaskets, anything?

Thanks

Ditto on the bearings. You'll never get the outer races out of the old rotors without damage. The rear rotors just slide on over the studs. You could also install new pads and inspect the calipers.

Considering where you get to drive your car and the speeds, don't go cheap, put in all new parts!

the rear rotors wont need anything else. they just sit on the hub. take off the wheel, undo the brake caliper, slide off the rotor, slide on new rotor, re-do caliper, re-mount tire, and away you go!

Maybe "brake grease" for the slides!

Make sure you pack the bearings well otherwise they will fail shortly...
