Does anyone know of any aftermarket rad fans that can be adapted to the Fiero? My fan took a crap yesterday. I think the newer ones moves more air than the vintage 86 style fans. Has anyone adapted one to the radiator? Before I spring for a new/used Fiero fan, I want to research some options.
I guess you donīt have Peugeot 205īs over there, but that is what I used to replace the bad fan in my 88 4Tech.....it pulls twice as much air, and fitted almost perfectly in the original space...just had to make two new holes for the frame support screws. fierofetish

Hey Nick! Hope all is well... but nope, those may be just a little bit scarce in South Carolina... however, if I wind up going to a local yard for a Fiero replacement, I will certainly be on the lookout for a Puegeot 205. Thanks for the tip

Thanks for the info... I will check a few stores to see if they have a reasonbly priced 16 inch fan. I like the way you installed yours in the shroud. I will try the same install.
What is a ball park range for the 16 inch fan?

Well, I won one like the one that MTA posted. It should be here before the week is out. It moves 3300CFM, which is on par with some of the more expensive Spal fans. I think I got this one for a decent price.

Not a flame, but the temperature is controlled by the fan switch and thirmistat. It doesnt matter how much CFM it's rated.Hope it works for you, good luck.
James Bond 007, It DOES matter how many cfm's there rated for. Thats true that the fan is controlled by a thermostant but if you have a larger fan that pulls more cfm's then the fan will be more efficient and it will not run as much because it pulls more air.

Yep, I know the temp is controlled by the switch, but as already stated, my goal is to move as much air across the rad in less time with the hopes of the fan not running as often.

It is an "S" blade and pulls more air. I guess it is reasonable to assume that the more CFMs it pulls, the more amperage it takes to turn them?
Actually, the fan I used pulls LESS amperage than the factory fan, only a 9 amp draw. With the original fan, you could see a huge drop in voltage on the voltmeter when it kicked in. Th electrical system barely notices the new one.

I did the same thing Fierosound did. The Proform fan is great. It's pretty quiet and doen't draw as much as the factory fan. It flows about 3 - 4 times more than the stock fan, too. Works wonderfully.
Thanks for the inspiration Fierosound!
