Hi everyone. The time has come for me to start my engine swap. Saturday I will be off to pick up my 3.4 TDC engine, ECM, and wiring harness. Before I begin I want to make sure I have everything covered. I am installing on a 1984 2.5 cradle. 1. 3.4 TDC Engine 2. V6 Fuel Pump 3. V6 Air Cleaner Assembly 4. Motor Mounts? - Will it bolt up to cradle or will I need to fab something? 5. ECM 6. Wiring Harness
These are all I have. I think I have everything I need to get this thing going, besides some misc. hoses and other stuff like that. If anyone can think of something that I have possibly missed could you please let me know. I am trying to get this project done in less than a month. Thanks.

I think you need the V6 engine mount bracket. That's the U shaped one that bolts around the pulley end of things. Cannot recall if you need the 88 one or not since I made a custom one. so far as I know you can use the stock mounts. bolts right up to the tranny.
You'll probably need to do something with the throttle cable. Again I made a custom one but you can modify others to work.
Exhaust system is usually the biggest headache. Everyone does it differently. You also need o work out a dog bone mount. some people have used the stock fiero location and connected it to the PS bracket. I made a custom mount that fits to the tranny end of things.
Have fun and keep us posted and don't forget the pics !!.
You can read about my swap (getting on two years now !!) on my web site.
Thanks for replying. I thought I read somewhere it had to be the V6 mount but I wasnt sure. Dont worry about the pics, Im gonna take plenty. Looking at your site now. Thanks again for the advice. + for you!
OK, went to the junkyard today and pulled this 3.4 DOHC. It took us about 3 hours. Not to bad with the minimal amount of tools we had. It is from a 1995 Lumina. Now, what do people do with the power steering pump and AC compressor? Theyre just taking up power that I could be using!

And the donor car.....A 1984 Fiero. Dont worry after I am done it will look a lot better!
Tomorrow I will be dropping the cradle on the Fiero. Dont worry I will take lots of pics. If anybody can help me with the wiring I would be thankful. Does anybody have schematics? Has anyone put a 3.4 in a 84 Fiero yet? I think the wiring might be a little diff but not sure. Thanks again everyone. I will be posting updates tomorrow.

There's a wiring diagram for mine on my web site (page 5 of the swap topic I think). Fiero is 85 and I custom built the harness but it may help you figure out what on the fiero connects to what on the 3.4.
PS. Is your 84 and auto or a manual tranny? If it's a manual that 95 ECM will not work for you. You'll need the 16149396 ECM and a suitably programmed prom chip (Darth Fiero, amongst others can do one).
Hello again everyone. Sorry it has been a while since my last update, however, I havent had much time to work on the car. So let me give you an update on what I have accomplished in the past few days.
1. Got the flywheel and clutch bolted to engine. 2. Got the engine bolted to transmission (4 spd). 3. Right now I am holding the engine level with a jack, but the machine shop said my engine mount should be ready by Tuesday. (I hope!) 4. Dropped the gas tank and waiting for AC DELCO fuel pump to arrive. Hopefully by tomorrow.
I think thats about it so far. And now, the moment you have all been waiting for...........................Pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fuel lines to engine.

I had to cut the original slave cylinder braket so it wouldnt hit the engine. Does anybody know what these plug into? Wainting for engine mount. Going to loop the PS pump. Still going through the wiring to figure what I need and dont. Im trying to use the Luminas air intake and sensors. And final pic for today...Will keep you updated.

That would be for the PCV valve. Other end of valve attaches to a pipe that goes to a fitting up near the throttle body.
Connector is for coolant sensor. There are two, one goes to ECM, one goes to temp gauge. Cannot recall which this one is. Pipe goes undr plenum and connects to vacuum connector up by the other end of plenum (neear where fiero dogbone would go). This end goes to the tranny. It's called the 'transmission modulator' in the books. I think it stops the tranny shiffting so soon under hard accel (hi vacuum).
If you use the stock 95 ECM you will be able to use the MAF I think although the 95 engines expect an electronic tranny since the ECM (actauly a PCM) also controls the tranny). I have no idea how things work out mating it to a Fiero tranny though.
Second the comment about the way it is jacked up. At least put the wheels under there so that if it does go it won't turn you to mush (keeps the wheels oout of the way too. Don't envy you working in the yard like that though. Best of luck withthe swap.
If it will make you sleep a little easier I did have tires in the background under the body by the jacks/stands. I had to move them out of the way to get to the fuel tank straps. Thank you for the concern though. I do not like to work in the yard but the garage is to small to fit a car into at the moment. Thanks for the responses LTLFRARI on the parts. I am sure I am going to need some more help in the near future. My wifes Aunt and Uncle live in Raleigh that we were supposed to go see on New Years before my wife broke her leg. Hopefully, when Im done I can come down and we can cruise or something. LOL Thanks again all for the responses.
