What paint do you guys use when you repaint your upper intakes and valve covers? Im looking for something close to stock. I went to Advance and picked up some Duplicolor Engine Enamel in Ford Red and that seems to be the closest thiing. The Chevy orange was way too orange.

So what have you guys been using?

Thanks,
Steve

If I remember correctly, that is the color I ended up using, except I used a high heat paint. The valve covers shouldn't get too hot so regular paint should work, as long as you prep the painting surfaces well.

I can do powder caoting for you, but the color match isnt easy, custom colrs are cool though.

Ya, those dont get that hot. A lot of intakes and valve covers are just shot with basecoat/clearcoat auto paint and hold up just fine.

I'll second the Chrysler red. I'll have to check the number when I get home, but the paint I used was a Chrysler red. Almost an exact match.

What method are you using to strip the factory paint with? I was going to sandblast a set and coat them but the stuff on them is very tough. I am guessing it is a grade of powder caot and not paint actually. I was going to try a few grades of stripper but haven't got that far yet.

I used the Ford Red also. It matched my other faded parts perfectly.
