Has anyone removed the windshield wiper arms on their Fiero? I need to remove the wiper arms on my 1984 Fiero to replace the wiper motor. The Haynes book says to pry up on the bottom of the arm next to the transmission shaft but I thought there was some sort of clip that had to be removed. I don't want to turn this into a bigger job than it has to be. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Look at the base of the arm. You will see a small hole on either side. LIft the arm until the holes open up, then put a small drill bit or piece of stiff wire through them. This will hold the arm up and enable you to lift it straight off the shaft. Real easy.

tesmith66 is correct but to add a little, there is no locking mechanism other than if you don't follow tesmith66's instructions and leave the arm on the windshield there are protrusions under the bottom of the arm, at the hinge point that prevent the arm from being pryed off the drive splines.

I use a wire clothes hanger to stick in that little hole. If you do it right the arm just falls off in your hand. If you do it wrong, like using a screw driver to try and pry it off, you stand a good chance of cracking your windshield...don't ask me how I know this.
