Well this car has been haunted with electrical problems for some time. The issues range from not starting at all, to running funky, and sometimes running fine. Well today we got a nice day, about 70 with sun, so we decided to disassemble the harness. Using a multimeter going through the wires, we found that one of the starter wires was grounding out. The whole loom was stripped off, and I began to search along the wires. This is what I found:

It turns out the wire rubbed through some how. This exposure is located where the wires run behind the waterpump area, down towards the transmission. It looks like a tight space there, and over the years, it must have just worn through. I cut out the section that is bad, and spliced the wires back together. Starting problem solved! I'm not sure how this may connect to the fuel injection system, or if it had any affect on it. I thought I remembed this wire having something to do with the trunk relay and the fuel injection, but I have to pull out the shop manual to check....
Its a tough area to check normally, you may want to check your wires next time you get a chance...
