Does anyone else that uses Firestone Indy 500 tires on their Fiero have horrible traction on wet surfaces. I can barely excellerate through a stop light without my car turning completely sideways (I have to admit I got used to it and turned it into fun, but its still scary with traffic) Just wondering if its normal for those tires, if so, I am going invest in some larger rims and increase tire size and get some Toyo or sayyyyy.... Pirelli.

I'm very happy with my Kumho Ecsta 711's. I have 225/50/16 on the back of mine, and they hook up fine on wet pavement. Of course, we don't get Oklahoma style rain out here...

Tirerack shows a pretty respectable wet traction rating @ 8.5 for Indy 500's You may have some other issues...alignment etc. I've used Bridgestone Pole position SO-3's for a couple of years and I'm astounded with their wet traction abilities. Almost as high grip as when its dry.

bad alignment will make wet traction almost zero.

Definitely check your alignment. I had the same prob with a 95 S-10 I had, and initially blamed it on the tires I just put on as well. Especially since I had just had it aligned when I put new shocks, tie rods, and ball joints on it (tires came at the same approx. time). Turned out the place I took it had botched the alignment, a buddy of mine that worked in a garage checked it after I told him about the wet trac probs and sure enough once he fixed it the problem got much better (still wasn't perfect in wet conditions when it was in 2wd, just because I rarely had anything in the bed.)
