my 3.4 TDC is running fine but i need exhausti had one sop do it and discovered a leak, and one of the welds were bad so now i got my money back and i found another place to do it but i need some better info on how to run it....

i had it exactly like a stock v6 setup y-pipe over the tranny(you know)

but i want it as to where you cannot see or basically touch the exhaust from the top of the car....

ive ruled out true duals... i heared its crap! (or is it really???)

Darth? Erik? ltlfrari? anyone
and as far a mufflers and cats what yould you suggest?
the only thing i recovered were 2 MONZA tips they look cool and i hope they sound good too....

one guy said run a cat with no mufflers!

i dont know what to do

Anthony,
The easiest way to do it would be to use the stock exhaust manifolds and use the original downpipe off the back exhaust manifold down to a split if using dual exhaust to 2 cherrybombs or bullet type muffers with some ansa type tips. There is room to place a short cat between the downpipe and the split Of course you will have to use the original crossover pipe with that setup. You could also use the same setup with a single exhaust to eliminate the split and just use one muffler.
The only other way you can do it without the exhaust being seen or touched from the top of the car with no crossover would be to run an individual pipe for each manifold or header and route them accordingly, the front manifold pipe like the original Fiero exhaust path where the original cat was along to the passenger side to where the hump is on the cradle and 90 degree it along the passenger side under the cradle to the back passenger side cradle area in the original Fiero muffler area. The back manifold ( a front one flipped tofit on the back head) pipe would have to 180 right off the flange and then you could join the two with a split in the middle of the original Fiero muffler area and then run duals from the split. That way you will have that all important crossover ( the split) for torque and sound and still get a dual exhaust. I dont really know what a 3.4 DOHC dual exhaust would sound like with no crossover of some sort

Check out my 3.4 DOHC build thread at https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/047231.html but what I did with YellowArtero's car was a little unique because of the shift cable routing of the muncie 4-speed.

I did mine like Darth's. Seems like the only way to go if your using a 4 speed. Make sure you go to a muffler shop that will build it like you want it. I said I wanted a y pipe put in as in a manufactured one and they made this hand made one.... This system shold still flow pretty good. 2.5" seems like a minimum for this motor.

With this set up, when the louvers are on you can't really see the exhaust pipe. Your kind of limited on an exhaust system you can't see unless you go true duals.

You can use a stock crossover setup with the four speed but you will have to mod the crossover by shortening the ends of the crossover a few inches and rewelding the flanges back on. You will remove the heatshield by drilling out the rivets to do so. Once you shorten the crossover and trim the ends of the heatshield you can put the heatshield back on by using small bolts and washers to clamp it back on.The reson you want to shorten the crossover is to provide clearance for the shiftcables and bracket. You will modify the slave cylinder bracket as pictured by cutting the end off of the cylinder bracket and bending it 90 degree to create a tab then drilling an extra hole in the cylinder bracket tab and the shift bracket where the tab will go Put a bolt through the hole and tighten with a washer and nut. Works great

Well, I needed another front exhaust manifold anyways for my future turbo set up so I decided to go this route. Your way looks simple now that you explained how you did it, and way cheaper than my setup. 2.5" mandrel bends are expensive, $30 per 90*. Can't wait until I buy 3" mandrel bends for the turbo.. $$$

Yeah it was cheap as in 0$ other than some labor for the crossover mod and slave bracket mod. The 2 bullet mufflers were 12 apiece and the tips were 30 a piece but still not bad for a complete exhaust + it sounds like a Ferrari . Im going to SC one of my DOHC so I probably will go with a header setup with true duals with crossover . Your looks sweet probably give you more torque as well
