I was wondering if anyone out there knows if there is a differance between the wiring harness ( the one that runs under the dash) between 85 and 86. I have one from an 86 SE and it does not seem to match the 85. I have added all the necessary stuff in the doors (actuators for the locks ect). but the interior harness dont match. Do I have to get one from a 85 so it will work or can I modify the one I have. Any help will be apperciated.

If I remember correctly, the harness you are talking about is a seperate harness. It isnt part of the main harness. I dont think there is a difference at all in the years as far as the PW /PD/PM . you will know if you have the interior harness for those accessories by looking in the passenger kick panel. There is a silver box bolted to the wall near where the wires that go into the door are at. John

I think it matters more what door options than what year. (Excluding 84 as almost everything is year unique for those.)

The "cross car" 300 zone harness is considered a separate subsystem from the rest of the interior 200 zone harness. The 300 harness will vary depending on what options are in the doors. There are at least three major versions that I know of.

1. No power door parts
2. Power Windows only.
3. Loaded with PW PL and PM.

There could be more.

From 85 on I think all the 300 harnesses are the interchangable from year to year. The PW 300 harness currently in my 87 came from an 85 SE and was plug and play. (An explanation of harness zones is in my cave. Wire service article.)
