I have a 3.5 ratio steering rack in my car, and I know that some Fieros came with 3.0 ratio steering racks, I would like to find one of those to put on my Fiero, but I dont know in which cars do I have to look for it ??? which years and which models GT, SE, Coupe ??? Anyone ???
Thanks a lot for your Help ... Ales

I think you'll find that 3.0 or 3.5 is not the steering ratio. It is the turns, stop to stop of the steering wheel. The actual steering ratios are numbers like 19:1, 22:1, etc. According to the book "Fiero" by Gary Witzenburg, '85-'87 Coupe, Sport Coupe, and SE had 22.0:1 ratio. All others had 19.2:1 ratios. Here's an earlier thread on the subject:
IRM use to sell 16:1 racks. These were the same ones used on the SD4 Pace Cars. I think you can still buy the gears and rebuild it youself. 16:1 is about 2.5 turns lock to lock. I can look up which company made the gears when I get home tonight.

Another bump.... does anyone know which cars had the 19:1 steering ratio? Were those the cars that were equipped with WS6? Was it part of the WS6 package? Anyone know the RPO?
I have a couple of 87 SEs and I don't think they have it. On the other hand, I have a WS6 2m4 and it feels like it turns much more sharply???
Thanks!

now that would be some good info to have.. i suspect the rack in my 84se is the 19.. i replaced the rack in my old 86se with an 84 rack and it did tighten up the stearing.
