That's New England. Boston area, specifically.

I lack time to go to a junkyard (or several), find what I am looking for, determine its viability and remove it to put it in the trunk of my wife's Buick.

When I do a search, I find rebuilders, etc aplenty in the midwest and southwest. As I check eBay, that's where the bare blocks are, too. I have no idea what the shipping would be for an engine block from, say, IL to my home in MA.

Interestingly, there is a competent machine shop not far from me (recommended by a couple of hot rodders I know). I have not made first contact as yet. Would a shop have access to this sort of thing? What kind of markup? What other avenues should I search to bring a block to him? What are the answers to the questions that I didn't know to ask?

TIA

What are you looking for, I go to school in boston, and have some parts kicking around back home in CT. Wanna do a 4.9 swap? I got the engine and tranny for you.

Thanks, P8! Good for a +.

I'm looking for a 400 block, probably 2 bolt main (more common, and it is said that webbing is more substantial - can have it machined for 4 bolt caps).
