i just started mine last night and it sounded like a go kart. the maf isnt hooked up as well and i have some unhooked vacum lines. it was straight manifolds with a y-pipe. the motor sat for like 2 years and i smelled old gas as well.

Without the MAF and vacuum lines you are lucky it is running at all. You will smell gas, because the MAF isn't working properly( not at all). Get that stuff hooked up, then run it.

Yup yup...beat me to it...

Im really suprised that you got it to run at all with no MAF.
Guess that after 2 years of nothing, it really wanted to run!

this week i have run my sc2 3800 without the maf hooked up, without the maf in at all, and with/without the muffler installed on my supertrapp.
the maf only difference was hesitation on accell (even with it out!)
the muffler baffles off, improvement in top end.

the vac lines could be a whole nother story. which ones? not the brake booster i hope.

I'm sure the old gas probably has a lot to do with the car running like crap as well.
