well, i was driving down the road, adn the car stalled out, coasted to a place to stop, (luckily) i opend the decklid and found that the red wire that comes out of my crane ignition box to my ignition coil had melted to the exhaust manifold well, i had fiero angel take me home in her pickup, and got a stock ignition coil, ignition modual and ECM replaced them all with known working ones from my other (running) fiero, car still cranked and cranked no start, no spark going to plugs.... i moved all my ignition parts (distributor and coil) over to my other fiero and it started right up, i put a volt meter on all the plugs going into the distributor on my 87GT and it was getting no power on any ofthe 6 leads that go into the ignition modual, im stumped, all fuses good, ECM working fine, what else could it be?

can the ignition switch on the steering column be the problem?

Sounds like you have a blown fuse/fusable link. That would be the first thing I would check. Good luck!

If I read your description correctly, it sounds like the ignition box may have shorted out and blown. Check power to the box, if it tests OK and still no spark, I would restore the system to stock and go from there.

The ignition coil power feed has a fuse link. Sounds like you popped it. I think it is over at C500 with one end going into C500.

well the problem was in this area, but instead of popping the fusable link, it burned the wire into two pieces, between the fusable link and the c500 connector, i found this very odd that the link didnt pop, but what do i know. it didnt damage anything electrical other than that wire.

I think you burned the fuse link....

As far as I know... The coil fuse link is the wire between a fat molded plastic lug and the terminal in C500. IE the last 2-5 inches of wire going into C500.

The large plastic lug is just insulation over the splice between the regular wire and the fuse link wire. Fuse links look like normal wire but have a rubbery cover that is designed to keep the wire ends from shorting to other things even after the link burns out.

I don't know the best way to repair this fuse link. That one isn't in a good spot.
