I have the trans, all the engine compartment wiring harness, the Eldo ECM. I'd really like to have the overdrive with the V-6, just to see what sort of mileage I'd get, or would I be better off just hunting up a 4T60 with the TV setup? (Only reason I'm asking this question is I already have the 4T60E, and just sort of inherited it, didn't have to shell out any bread for it.)

technically yes if you want to do a hell of allot of wiring and other work. You'll probably need to recalibrate the PCM as well to get it all done and running/shifting right.

Yes, your easier solution is the non electric unit. Those pretty much drop in. with the right axles and a bit of cradle adjusting to fit the rear 4T60 bracket. A bunch of people have done this with little problem.

Have the same problem, already have the 4T60E transmission wiring and ECM.
To use the 4T60E l would have to convert my 2.8 to DIS and reprogram the ECM for the 2.8.

The problem with using the 4T60E on a Fiero is that it is an electrically shifted transmisson, the function provided by the ECM The Fieros ECM does not have the capability to interface with this transmission. . Now if you used that transmission with a Cadillac 4.9L and wired it properly, everything would work fine. If you are trying to use a GM ECM with the shift function to manage your 2.8L w a 4T60E, then I would say that you face a difficult reprogramming job. If you want four speeds, it's best to bolt on a 4T60. You can get that tranny to work with the Fiero engine.

I doubt it. If you somehow managed it, you are likely looking at an even bigger reprograming job.

Best bet is to sell the E trany and parts to someone doing a conversion with a compatible engine. That I know of you can't put DIS ignition on the Fiero 2.8 because there is no facility for the crank sensor. Some of the later V6 versions do have that mounting point and the needed crank.

Use what you get from the sale to buy the non E unit and axles. If it is a V8 setup E unit, they are worth more as they don't make quite as many of them. The V8 ones are built stronger from the factory.
