1) The pigtail circled, I found it just lying under my distributer. Where does it go?

2) Bolt hole on alternator bracket stripped. Can I retap it, retap and use a longer bolt with a locking nut, or do I need a new bracket?

EDIT: I should note my cars been running good, till the alt died.

1) Looks sorta like an injector wire to me... Could be wrong though...
2) Any of the above.. The longer bolt with locking nut is the quickest but is a pain when it comes time to tighten it. I'd try for a new bracket first, re-tap second, longer bolt third.

cold start injector

I suppose its in the area where I found it? Something hard to get to?

I guess I should drive my car more then 3000 miles a year. That might get me to check things out a little more often!!

The cold start injector is near the base of the distributor. It inserts into the end of the manifold. Here's a picture of it with the distributor removed for clarity, it's the rectangular black connectur just to the upper left of the distributor hole:

On the alternator, a bolt and nut would be just fine, just use a nyloc or deformed thread locking nut so that it doesn't vibrate loose all the time, and use flat washers on the bracket side to reduce the stress on the bracket. Or, you could helicoil it if you wanted to.
