The guy I sold my red 87GT to has got a problem...he says he was driving along, the ses light came on, and the engine died, and won't start again. Itook off the air filter, and squirted some easystart into the intake, and she fired up, as long as I kept squirting!! I have listened when the key it turned, and there is a click, but no pump...The backup on the oil pressure sender won't work, because of the aftermarket sender fitted, and so I guess it is the relay, or the pump itself.Any way to check this out, or could it be wiring! There are no codes being posted.
Any advice appreciated, and thanks in advance...still communicating from a cyber cafe, until I get the phone company to Court!!

You can test the pump by fabricating a jumper wire from the red wire on the cigarette lighter to terminal "G" of the ALDL. This will bypass the relay. If it doesn't work then it is the pump, or wiring. My pump is 255lph and cost $150 (IIRC). Are you still screwing with the phone co. over the internet thing ...........Paul

About $150 for a good one from A/C Delco at retail I'd guess. The factory pump part number for an 87GT is 25116162. showing my cost as a jobber at about $117.22 according to Alldata. Also calls for 2.5 hours labor NOT including draining fuel and time to access pump.

To drain the tank, you might want to try hooking a line up to the feed line and into a container. Then jumper the ALDL terminal G (fuel pump test connector) and rap the tank to see if you can get pump spinning enough to empty the tank.

This is assuming the pump is the problem... make sure when you turn the key on that you have power back to pump first.

Good luck
