I installed a set of the Fiero Store Axle Stabilizer seals into my Getrag 5 speed, and they are leaking like there is no tomorrow. I am looking to remove and re-seal it, but the question is, how on this green Earth does one go about removing them without killing them on the way out?

[EDIT] I need to remove the ENTIRE ASSEMBLY, as it's leaking at the mounting point, not the seal.[/EDIT]

Here is a pic of what I'm looking at, and just don’t ask about the cradle color…it seems that the color on the can top doesn't mean anything

Thanx in advance…

Just remove the center seal. It is replaceable and Rodney Dickman sells them. You can pry out the seal with a screwdriver, just work your way around it by sticking a screwdriver under it to pry it up. Tap the new seals in carefully so you don't nick them, again working around the outer edge. If you want to remove the complete stabilizer you need something to hook it from behind so you can try and pull it out. You should be able to get it out with a seal puller or even a dent puller with a j-shaped hook to work around the inside edges.

I had the same exact problem, so I decided the stablizers were not worth the leaks. What I did, which I don't recommend, is to take a dremmel and a cutoff disk and cut enough of the inside of the stabilizer to break the thing in half and pull it out. The right way is to get a blind-hole bearing puller (sort of like a dent puller). If you do a search on google you will be able to find one.
