I will need to replace the 4-speed muncie transmission in my 86 GT soon. I have picked up a replacement from an 85 GT. I was hoping that an enthusiast in the Milwaukee/Waukesha area that had some skills would be willing to help. I have another member here willing to assist but his mechanical skills do not encompass swapping a transmission. I will pay for beer, food various other sundries. Would anyone be interested in helping out? If so, PM me and I will give you my contact info. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. In fact if others want to come by and help/watch/.learn etc., we could make it a tranny swapping party.

Thanks for looking
.

Well, you already have me to help out, but I haven't done a trans yet. It'll be fun to give this a shot!

Does the Chiltons/Haynes manuals cover this trans change?

Hi Mark!

You were who i referenced in the post

I have Chiltons and it does describe it. If we don't get any experienced help I will be picking up the Haynes manual too. Can never have too much info.

I'll give this post a few more days to scare up some help. If that doesn't work, well, I guess we will have to learn as we go! Shouldn't take us more than a few weeks....

I will call you soon to arrange a date to do this.

Thanks again for all the help you have offered and given to me in the past few months. You are truely an asset to the forum, despite what anyone (Steve) has to say

Talk to you soon.

Kelin
